I was thought that some of the members of the group might have went and could give me pointers, BTW we sail at Angostura Reservoir in the southern Black Hills. The water level is a bit low this year 60% full. http://www.sdgfp.info/Parks/Regions/WestRiver/Angostura.htm
I do know of 3 boats going from our area, a Tanzer 7.5, MacGregor 25 and Aquarius 21. I am invited to crew on the Tanzer. Its a two day drive and then it runs Saturday the 31st to Saturday the 7th, then the drive home.
Greg, I didn't mean to offend anyone by saying what I said above. I based what I said on the photos I saw in the initial link to LOWISA. Judging by those photos, people were sailing on winds less than 10 mph. Maybe I am an adrenaline junkie, but I don't completely enjoy sailing unless I have 10 or more mph of wind. Here in Charleston Harbor, eight mph of wind + a 3.5 knot current in the opposite direction = not much ground covered. Now with that being said, I am sure that there are days on that lake that the wind blows hard enough to lay bigger boats than ours on their sides. For me, though, give me a 15 mph wind out of the Southwest and the salt air and water and I am happy.
