Does anyone have an idaea of what it costs to have the deck prefessionally painted, as well as some gel coat repair, for a Catalina 25. I was just trying to get an idea as I may have it done, or do it myself, over the winter.

Are you talking about the non-skid areas... or the whole thing ?

If it's the non-skid areas... see the recent sailnet.com article (a week or two ago) on refinishing non-skid with an overlay. Looked really nice.

My previous owner used red stain over the original redwood on my back deck and it looks like....

Oh, you mean your boat deck?

Man, I wonder how do you keep it from chipping off under foot traffic and UV damage?

On the C25, is "everything above the rubrail" painted with nonskid or only those patches with the textured weave effect (which are a different color usually)?

Our non skid ( the basket weave part ) was grey and I wanted it tan. Taped the edges carefully and put two thin coats of Interlux Brightside on 4 years ago. No problems since. If your deck has been waxed lately it would be more difficult. Part of the trick is to pick a color where if the tops of the weave wear through the contrast will not be too great. Dave

Dave - Do you recommend removing all the bolt-on hardware, etc., or can you mask everything and get good results?

I removed the stuff from the cabin roof, cleats, winches, hand rails, etc. and taped around life line bases and pulpit feet. On the corners I found a washer that matched the radius that existed, taped the corner solid, and then took a sharp knife and cut the corner in neatly. Dave

Frank - I thought that Rob's boat was already painted when he bought it. However, I'll ask him this weekend.
