I placed an order for a new Ullman full-batten main and 135 roller furling genny six weeks ago. The main was delivered within two weeks, but no sign of the headsail yet. How long should I have to wait? This is starting to upset me a little because CD charged my credit card the day I placed the order. My experience has usually been that most merchants who are backordered, and don't have your desired item in stock, do not charge your credit card until they catch up on the backorders and ship your item. At least Sailnet conducts it's mail order business that way. Anyway, how much longer do you think I should give them before cancelling the order and shopping for a genny elsewhere? Twice in this past week, I asked the sales rep at CD to contact Ullman and get some kind of statement from them as to a shipping date, but the only responce has been "They're pretty swamped", which tells me exactly nothing about when I can expect to receive my order (that they already charged my credit card for). Six weeks seems like more than enough time to build a small boat headsail. After all, this is only a Cat 25, not some megayacht that can spread enough canvas to cover a small town! And Ullman is supposed to be Catalina Direct's "dedicated" sail loft, with Catalina 22 and 25 sails on the shelf, ready for immediate delivery according to CD's website. Of course, now that Folsom Lake Marina has been shut down (as of last Tuesday), due to the Fed Bureau of Reclamation letting all the water out of the lake, I guess it doesn't rally matter how long the sail takes to arrive, since the marina is umlikely to re-open before next March or April...

Next time, just deal with Ulman Ventura directly. Gary built my sail on just a phone call, then took my credit card and delivered my new 135 roller sail in about 2 weeks total.
As it's midsummer, they're in their buzy season and your sail may be less of a priority, especially since Ulman may be making less on the sail than if you were dealing directly with them, plus you have to manage the transaction via a third party.

I got to know Jim at Catalina Direct on first name bases.
Funny how somethings workout, the next week I found the boat I been looking for. So now I have 2 boats but only one with a new main. However, the main worked great, I'm glad I got the foot loose.
I ordered my main on a wednesday and got it the next monday, course that was back in November. I was very pleased with the service I had received from Gary so when I wanted a new 150 he was the first I went to. I even started a thread here praising his service and knowledge of C25's. 2 months ago I sent an e-mail requesting a quote on a 150 and have seen nothing from him yet. I again requested a quote monday last week and have still heard nothing. I'm a little disappointed but will still keep trying to get in touch with him. I'm not in a big hurry for the sail and I figure this is his busy season anyway.
