Just curious if anyone has installed a deckwash pump for use on a C-25. I've got a lot of bird crap and dirt that seems to accumulate on my C-25 and I've been thinking of either installing a deckwash pump on-board or at the slip.
I don't have water at the slip - only at the courtesy dock which is somewhat of a pain to get to.
Brent I have a simular problem so I installed a Blaster from WM. It comes with the pump, fittings and the water nozzle. I Tee'd off of the vanity sink thru hull with a separate ball valve on the sink drain and Blaster for my water source. The pump is mounted in the area under the keel winch between the hull and liner. I believe they cost a little over 1 boat unit, ($100). I can wash down the boat without the hassle of finding a hose and then connecting to the dock water.
By the way, I used it to hose down Gary after the last race at the Nationals.
Brent, I ran quality hose from the vanity thru hull along under the starboard seat, I have a '78 so no dedicated battery compartment, and then elbowed around to the pump. From the pump I used a hole saw to bring the supply hose through the liner about 18" back from the keel cable stand pipe and up against the lazarett. I purchased one of those spring coiled hoses and found a PVC pipe large enough to accomidate (sp?) the hoses diameter, this is what the hose is stored in. I used an end cap on the bottom of the PVC tube for male hose fittings through it to hold the hose from pulling all the way out. The hose pulls out from between the steps, the Blaster power switch is just below the galley sink. This is very convenient for a quick wash of the cockpit.
Jim's idea for a washdown at the bow is terrific, however our lake is mostly rock and shale. A few cleansing dips of the anchor is all that is needed. The mud on the bottom of many areas of SF Bay is pretty ripe stuff, I can see how the wash down hose is needed.
I hope that my discription isn't too confusing. I will try to take some photos the next time I am at the boat.
I bought a water pump and a high pressure washer for exactly this purpose. I haven't used it yet but it should work. I have used the pump to drain water from the bilge.
