The dinette table on my '78 has completely come apart. I have built a new table myself (3/4'' ply and formica top, bottom, and edge trim). The original table supports on the C25 lack a lot. I saw the "Under Table Latches" in the Catalina Direct catalog and thought they looked fairly good. However, when I inquired at CD, they said there was a note in their file indicating a fitting problem with Cat 25's inside hull. No specific information. Can someone enlighten me about these latches and suggest an alternative if these really don't work?
Thanks, David Reece

There doesn't seem to be a lot wrong with the stock table hangers supporting the table. The problem is holding the table down in the supports. Some folks have installed a single spare rigging turnbuckle with quickpin between the stock mounts to pull down on the table. Hooks with spring locks might be another alternative.
Being a KISS/cheapskate kind of guy, I made up teak turnbuttons to fit between the top of the table and the fiddle rail. I had the wood and two #10 machine screws, washers, nuts, etc. laying around, so my total out of pocket expense was $0. It took me several minutes to measure, cut, trim, router radius, drill, and sand the teak. To install the Nylock nuts behind the hull liner, temorarily remove the shore power outlet above the dinette table and have someone with skinny hands and nimble fingers hold each nut and washer while you turn the screw to get it started. Then have them hold a wrench down in there while you tighten the screw to provide just a little friction tension. A couple of split washers will help keep the tension smooth and even.
The "fitting problem" is on boats with the traditional table layout --where the table latches to the bulkhead when not in use. The latches prevent you from folding the table up and storing it against the bulkhead.
Thank you for the info on the clearance problem ... I always wondered why CD would not sell me a set ... Currently I use a couple of 'Cedar Sash Shimms'. Available a nay hdwre store ... I' guess I'll have to formalize them with stain and varnish.

I wedge two between the dinette table and the hull liner--does the trick.
