I appologize that this is so much like last weeks, I am on the same point of sail at the same place in the lake, just moving faster. If I do another one I will try to have crew with me so I am not always at the same perspective and I will shoot someplace different. I am curious, in this video I added a short narrative and then brought the music up. Is it better for me to shut up and just have music on the video? I could post my narrative on the forum if I really needed to say something.
made me really want to come out for the regatta. I thought it looked very professional, I was thinking this is a chamber of commerce promo. very well done.
I think the narration is fine... a background sound track of 'water and sail' might be nicer for that part. IMHO, there's nothing like the swish of water past the hull and the sound of wind through the rigging to grab a sailors' interest.
Also, if you could 'cut in' to closer shots of the features you were talking about as you went through them it would really enhance the video. In the original they are just specks on the horizon. (Similar to the way the 'invitation' video is done)
Thanks for the complements. I think the wind and water sound is hard to get with my equipment, All I have is wind roar, It is there with the music but down quite a bit. I will play with it tonight and make some changes. I sure hope this does not lead to more money, I need to save BUs for the boat. But the little camera is very limited. It has a nice zoom for stills but I don't think It zooms on video. I need to shoot less vague and more specific places.
Frank, I don't know what tools you have available but don't limit yourself to sound effects you record with your camera. You could get the sound from a different source, an effects CD for instance. Our public library has several.
Your video made me smile. Sailing on a warm day on a warm lake is a great day. One so big would be a bonus.
Don, discretion is never the better part of valor. What did you say about Cat Stevens that you edited out? Cat Stevens, early Elton John, Leon Russell and Harry Nilsson is some of my very favorite music.
I use Apple's iMovie to make the videos, it's free. I can strip the sound from the camera, add sound tracks and overdub on a track. It integrates with the Apple website to publish the movies with one click. iPhoto works the same way, one click and the selected pictures go on line.

Frank,
I didn't say nor edit anything out because I never originally posted a comment. I just forgot a "[" in the above post.
Oh I thought maybe you had seen FOX news this morning.
WASHINGTON — A London-to-Washington flight was diverted to Maine when it was discovered that passenger Yusuf Islam (search) — formerly known as singer Cat Stevens (search) — was on a government watch list and barred from entering the country.
