Clay, there are many archived threads on this subject. Do a search on stove, alcohol, propane, and the like. You'll get plenty of opinions about alcohol vs. propane, about how to clean a stove, and how to light and use the pressurized alcohol stove that you are probably having problems with. BIG HINT: it doesn't work like a Coleman stove. You'll probably find the answers to your questions in past discussions. If not, ask away!
If you use the stove often enough to consider replacement you might want to glance at the Origo alcohol stove. I swear by it - it is entirely too easy to use and works as advertised.
