Yikes! Incredible! Yes, boats generally do better on moorings than on docks, as long as the surge doesn't lift the mooring, and as long as the anti-chafe gear is adequate. The nose stays into the wind, and loose boats generally can pass by without doing much damage, unless they're dragging an anchor that gets caught on your lines.
Derek, saw aerial photos taken from a C-130 of the NAS Pensacola marina on the local news tonight and it is unreal. Boats stacked ontop of boats like a deck of cards four deep against the shore. It is a real heart breaker. Where is the Big Cat?
