Shoal draft for my lake, can take a blow, aft head, aft queen, open salon. BUC 21-24K, God I hate being poor. Probably going to sell for far less than I can find a Catalina 28 for.
You can pick up 'midsize' boats on the west coast fairly cheap... not in as pristine condition as that boat tho. Would take a few pesos to get them to Kansas too. Many upper 20's boats are in kind of a 'no man's land' on the coast... too big to move to new venues on a trailer and too small to 'comfortably' cruise out on the ocean to go elsewhere.

Today I got all misty about the merit I sold in 91 so I drove 120 miles to find it. It is in great shape and the same fellow still owns it. It has a dock mate of dubious value.
What size Catalina would you consider a "blue water" boat, say to cruise the coast of California? Yeah, I know, how long is a piece of rope, but in general?
I have too much fun on SF Bay when it gets bouncy (like Saturday between Alcatraz and Angel Island), but I just cannot imagine Hey Jude seaborne. The pics of the guy's C25 in Antioc all set up for blue water blew my mind.
I am a lake guy and anything over 30 ft seems like a huge boat. I am very unqualified to express an opinion on a proper blue boat.I would guess 50 ft plus or minus a few would be about right.
