The champ at our club has eight. I currently own 2, most have seen the Hobie 17 I bought recently. At our club the beaches are perfect for "beach boats" and everyone seems to have a great time on the little stuff. A lot of our members own several boats, often a keel boat and sunfish, lasers or cats. A few have a crusing keel boat and a racing keel boat, the San Juan 21 is popular now.
How many do you have? (sailing dingies count) What is the record where you sail?
I have three at present. The C25, an O'Day daysailor II, and the Columbia 22 just purchased for Grace and Liz. We do have something resembling a laser at the cottage but mostly we use that to train the kids. The other boats are not sail, but there are several Kayaks, a restored 1942 lyman rowboat, a 19' Four Winns power boat, and a couple of dinghies. I don't much like the power boat but it does help when getting groceries. Living on an island all summer, having a small fleet seems to be the general rule for most Neebish families.
I feel the same about boats as I do about wives: I am not enough of a masochist to actually want to own (maintain/support/spend money on/worry about) more than one at a time.
I believe 2 (boats, not wives) is the max owned in our marina.
Yikes John I thought I had too many boats! In addition to the big boat and its 8' inflatable we have a sabot for the kids and the Klepper we inherited has a sail rig. To be honest I have thought about getting another Hobie too. The beach is so close and its such a kick.
It has been suggested and I often contemplate what I could sail if I sold all of them. They're all uniquely different and fun ... I just can't seem to part with any of them.
A Dolphin a C25 and contemplating a Nacra 5.2 if the price is right. Also have a 17' Tracker for fishing a 45 year old 14' Arkansas Traveler for a shuttle and a 12' Wilderness Systems kayak just for toolin' around. Cain't never have too many boats!
At the moment I have four sailboats. The Catalina 250, a Chrysler Buccaneer 18, a Hobie cat 16, and a Shock Lido 14. Added to that is an 18’ power boat and jet skies and kayaks. All of these are at the house on a standard small lot. I have been doing a lot of work on the Buccaneer recently. I was the only one out at the Buccaneer races last month with out a spinnaker. So after the races one of the Buccaneer sailors from out of state gave me his backup spinnaker to practice with until I see him again. Since my boat had never been setup for a spinnaker I have to add all the spinnaker hardware. I hope to get it out this weekend for it’s first runs with a spinnaker. This boat will get up on plane with a spinnaker. Should be a wild ride.
Just our C25, the inflatable WM dingy, and two single-person kayaks.
Hey there, Keith from Riverside. My wife and I teach at West Valley High School over in Hemet. We have our C25 in a slip in Mission Bay. Is your boat on your trailer at your house? If so, want to sail with Fleet 7 sometime? There are 5 C25s on our dock at Marina Village Marina near Sea World. You've no doubt read Jim's tales. His boat is parked next to mine, Mike's is next to his, Ray has is two slips south of mine and the Cavin's are about 6 slips over. We have had some terrific sails in the past year and are going out for another this weekend. And as everyone will tell you, the one we just had was the best sail ever . We're working to get more boats in our fleet so we can sail with a huge fleet someday out on the Pacific. You'd be the first C250 in our fleet but that would be okay
One Half Share of a Catalina 25. 1 full share in each of the 3 plastic sail boats my daughter plays with in the tub. and I guess technically 1/400+ share in the boats owned by the club.
but in general, 1/2 a C-25 boat is fine with me...
I have had as many as three boats at one time: a MacGragor 25, a Catalina 22, and an 18' runabout powerboat. That was about 10 years ago. Now I have just the Catalina 25 and a 10' Apex dinghy. There are a few people in my sailing club that have multiple boats - one that comes to mind is a couple that has a Catalina 36, a Chrysler 26, and a dinghy. I'm content with just one boat. Until I retire in a few years, I won't have enough time to fully enjoy even the one boat, let alone several.
My name is Catherine & I'm a boat-a-holic. Is that a bad thing?
1 Catalina 250 1 Force 5 (early '70s) 1 seyvlor inflatable dinghy 1 "The Dink" dingy (free!)
I'm contemplating adding a kayak to the mix. I'd love to have a power runabout for those hot August days when sailing is not so good, but just don't have the $$$.
Hmmmm..... for about a month last winter I owned 50' of Catalina. Unfortunately, It was not a 50'er but a C25 and a C250. I replaced a great C250 with a beautiful C25! Oh, and there's Pancho... the 8' Gig Harbor dinghy. Roger (the first mate Schipperke pup) claims ownership of the dinghy.

Had a 43' Nautiline Houseboat, added an 18' Bayliner Bucaneer, sold the Buc and added a C25, sold the Nautiline, sold the C 25, added a Catalina 320...that's all the Admiral says I can have...for now.
I have a C25, a Gig Harbor 12' Point Defiance with Sailing rig, 8 ft inflatable dingy, a Klepper folding kayak, 2 sea kayaks, and I just gave a friend of my an old white water kayak cuz I thought I might have too many.
Hi I'm done and I'm in recovery! I own 1 c25. But last year I had three sail boats, sold the O'Day Daysailer and Laser. And this summer bought two kyacks - one one person sit in and one two person sit on. No immediate plans for changing the boat inventory, but . . . I am in recovery.
Well, only one sailboat, a C250, and it is beloved; but on days when we can't make the 90 mile drive to the marina, there are
1) a 16 foot Old Town Stillwater canoe 2) a 17 foot Old Town Penobscot canoe 3) a 14 foot Alumacraft fishing boat circa 1955 4) a 16-foot plywood canoe 5) an 8 foot plywood Elegant Punt
the last two built by my sons when they were eleven and ten, respectively.
Luckily, we live on a ranch, or there's no way we could carry so many boats. Life is good.
