My 78 Catalina 25 had the left cockpit storage locker modified, I believe, to separate the gasoline tanks from the rest of the cabin. Now in the rear port storage area, directly below the port cockpit bench, my storage area is full of water. At the base of my keel, directly below the keel cable where the bilge pump goes to, everything is bone dry.
So how is the water getting in? Is it leaking from the fuel tank area? Through the little storage cubbie up in the cockpit?
Full is a strong word. If there is much water I would worry about the bilge pump through hull (ok through transom) and the scupper drains. Those areas are capable of delivering a fair amount of water. Have you dried it up and gone sailing then checked it? I would think if it is deck leaks you would notice and clean them up before much water would accumulate.
