Has anyone had experience with replacing resin in older sails by the process called LeMauney process as available from a company called SailCare? Does this add to the life of the sail? Does it help maintain sail shape?

Bob,

I had a friend you had it done a few years ago. He was amazed at how nice his old sails were when done. I didn't have them in hand but they sure looked a whole lot better from a distance. If I'm not able to sell my old maun and 110 I may get them serviced by Sail Care and use them as spares.

I had my sails serviced by SailCare a year ago. I was very pleased with the results. They were filthy when I bought the boat. When I got 'em back from SailCare they looked and felt brand new.

Hi I just got my main and my Genoa back from SailCare. They also modified my genoa for roller furling. My neighbor thought they were new. I am impressed and sailcare tech support is great.

I had my main done two seasons ago and am still pleased with the condition of the sail. The sail was dirty and the fabric was not at all "crisp" when I sent it in. It came back in like new condition with the exception of some repairs they did. The process has added several years life to the sail and the sail seems to perform much better.

How does the cost of reresining compare to that of a new sail?

Val

Try their website:

http://www.sailcare.com/

Includes all FAQs about their process. My main is back with them now, due to return soon, I've heard nothing but good things about them.

Just sent my main to Sail Care Monday. Their quote was $111.00 and a 15% discount if done before the 31st. I will let you know how it turns out.I have heard raving reports on their work.
