You should be able to connect the headphone jack from the walkman to the line input of the computer audio. There is not much voltage difference between the line out and the headphone jack of a portable. The line out is usually cleaner and cannot drive a headphone. If all you want is background listening, the headphone jack will work fine. If you want HiFi, well then you'd need a much nicer deck than the portable anyway. I thought about it, threw my cassettes in the thrash and bought CDs.
