Hi Kurt; We bought 5 of the larger sized cushion. I trimed two to fit the aft end of the cockpit, the fifth just fits between the two sides at the front of the cockpit. We have a 1996 wb, but I think the cockpit measures the same. I planned to have cushions made for the boat but when I got the price, I decided that the cushions from West would be just fine. They arn't the softest cushions, but they work great, and they double as swim toys. If they stay outside in the rain they dry quickly, If one is lost, it won't break you heart. Thanks. Thats what I needed to hear, glad to hear you can cut them to size. I'm just looking for a temporary solution for now; running low on boat units after all the recent upgrades!

You mean I'm not the only one that keeps going untill forced to stop?
I've been looking at cushions for my cockpit at well. Most have been about 6 BU's and I thing you may be on to something. I did some looking and found KnoxFoam.com and a few other places that sell closed cell foam by the sheet (large sheets) for about the same price as two of the large pieces from WM. The benefit I see in the large sheet is being able to cut it to fit the cockpit.
Cockpit cushions are a great idea. One concern: That's a lot of surface area & fairly lightweight material. Did you have a plan for keeping the cushions on board if the wind get up & nobody is sitting on them?
I sprung for the factory ones when I bought the boat. They have short straps attached underneath them that hook to snaps installed in the cockpit seats. If you put cushions on board you will definitely need some sort of fastening system unless you like conducting "man-overboard" drills.
If you want good looking, reasonably priced, durable cushions that you do not have to make yourself, check with some local folks that custom cover car seats. They can do it by matching each piece you give them with a new piece. You pick the color and fabric, based on their recommendation for boating use.
Thanks. I'm not sure exactly where I'm going on my cockpit. I had'nt even though about securing them (the Design can help with that). My Dad (a former school administrator) came up with a similar idea (don't everyone run to the phones). His suggestion was to call the local public school's vocational department and see if they have an upholstery class. Back in his day the classes would projects for the price of materials and a small donation for supplies andor travel for competition.
