I know they're not called Thingamajigs, Watchmacallits or Doodads 'cause the BoatUS people said they don't carry anything by that name.
So, what are they called and where does one purchase them?

Thanks,

Steve

In the WM catalog page 728 they are called "line hangers". Here is a link to a post showing what I used to accomplish the same with no screws and much cheaper.

Thanks Frog for the West Marine info. That's exactly what I was looking for. Oddly, they are not in the BoatUS catalog and I thought both stores carried the same products so I didn't bother checking West Marine.

Since the holes are already there, I'll just get new hangers although I like your solution too.

Steve,

I have some of those thingys on my boat that used to look about like yours. I bought a couple feet of shock cord at a local sporting goods store. It was a very easy fix and they work like new!

My dad learned a technique at Mistic Sea port years ago while on a vacation.
Coil up the end reach through the hole and grabe the line as it comes off of the cleat put a twist on it as you pull it through the looped part and hook this over the cleat. I have never had this come loose in any amount of wind. If I remember I'll try and take a photo of it tomorrow or this week end, depending on the weather.

Lo tech from the luddite.
