I emailed the seller. He gave me a HIN of CTYK5758L788. I have 5775 which is definatly an 88. What you have there is a MK 4 lower hull liner and a MK 3 deck. Same as my boat. And still a steal IF it is in Good shape.
Wet blanket here. You get what you pay for. Either this guy doesn't know what he's got (but he does use sailboat terminology in his 'vehicle description') or he does and there's damage he's not mentioning. I see only the usual 'pretty pics' of the interior...no pics of the hull, bilge, etc. Note that he wants cash, cashiers check, or money order...all immediately negotiable on his part, no recourse on yours. I'd have to see it for myself. Certainly looks good from a distance, tho.
Except for a little sprucing up in the interior, it looks like it's in great shape. I note however that, like my 88 model, the YachtTwin is mounted on the port side. This caused a 3 degree list in my boat until I switched the motor to the starbord side. I also noted that the stern pupit on the starboard side is bent on the top.
Except for the Harken furler, this is a no-frills C25 and an absolute steal at the price listed.....barring any unseen faults.
I wonder who mounted the motor bracket on the Port side? I don't think the Factory did this after about 1981 or 82. Is it for sure that this boat on Ebay has a Mk. IV hull liner (flat floor, no keel trunk)? I was pretty sure that Hull number 5801 or 5803 was the first Catalina 25 with the lowered floor pan and no keel trunk. If I'm wrong, and the first Mk. IV floor pan is a hull number before 5801, please update me.

I asked our Catalina dealer (since the late 1970's) about it, and he couldn't explain it. It's a mystery.

He has wheel steering which is probably easier to rig with the OB on port.
If you look on the 1988 brochure on our site pg3. The photo caption touts the new lowered flat floor. I can assure you that 5775 has the lower floor. When Catalina made the switch???Sometime before this. I would bet that this boat has the lower floor.
As for the motor. Mine is mounted the same as this boat and does list the boat to port. A full water tank and 80lbs of ballast fwd of the water tank trims it up nicely.
This is not the type of purchase to be made sight unseen. There are deals to be had on ebay. Just read the fine print, check it out and cross your fingers!
Tom - I don't recognize either of the two bidders that have run the price up to $3,800.00 so I'm not sure if either is "from here." On the other hand, I guess we'll be seeing the eventual owner's first newbie post when the dust settles. (Not making fun, I did the same thing when I bought my first C25.)
The higher they bid, though, the happier I am that I did the "buy it now" option for my latest boat and got it over with. Who knows what the bidding would have gone to if I hadn't.
Steve, I love it when a great deal comes along. Just remember to add all the "extras" you need in figuring up the total price. I refrained from posting this message myself as I did not want help drive up the price. Your boat would have been had by someone else if you did not buy it. You just took the leap first.
