Did you drop the keel to get the portion inside the trunk? I remember doing that with my Catalina 22, and it was a pain to deal with a 650 lb hunk of cast iron, I could only imagine the fun of dealing with a 1500 lb chunk. Your keel looks great though. Did you sandblast?
Congratulations. It looks great, Albert. I see that you placed a zinc near the cable lifting bracket ... I wish I had done that four years ago. The only significant rust on my keel, after an epoxy job, was there. I had to go back in, clean up the area and re-apply new epoxy within a couple years.
Albert, are you allowed to do your own bottom where you haul? If so, you did a swell job, I must say. Did you barrier coat your cast iron keel in any way? Did you do anything to the keel hanger assembly? Fair winds, ron Srsk #2343 Orion SW FL
Marina did the work. The keel was not dropped. I keep the keel in the up position. The keel head didn't look too bad. They did change the four holding bolts and bronze keel pin. It was sanded, rustlok'ed, three coats of epoxy barrier coat, then 3 coats of ablative paint.
