I have never heard of this boat. At first I thought it was deformed and elongated, but looking at other things in the picture I have about decided it really is this sleek!
The Electra was the cruising version of the Ensign, a very popular daysailer/club racer. The cabin top is stepped, as I recall. Maybe the snow makes it look sleek. Ron #2343 Orion srsk SW FL
It is a beauty of a boat. Here are some tidbits I found.
History of the Pearson Electra The Electra was designed for the MORC ( Midget Offshore Racing Class ) by Carl Alberg. She is 22' 6" with a full keel and a doghouse cabin.they built the Electra first and upon discovering what a fast hull it was they built a day sailer version of the same hull know as the Ensign. They used the same hull form as the Electra, reduced the cabin to a cuddy(The Electra most likely was advertised it would sleep 4, however two adults and all of their weekend baggage is more realistic.) thus enlarging the size of the cockpit enabling it to carry a larger better balanced crew. The rigging was changed from Masthead (Electra) to Fractional (Ensign) to reduce headstay sag and permit the Ensign to point a little better. Not knowing the strength and limitations of fiberglass, at that time, they built the Electra very heavy and almost bullet proof. I expect with the proper care she will outlast me. The boat sails very responsive and at times seems more like a large dingy. Many of my friends with larger boats fall in love with the way the Electra handles.
There are currently four Yacht Clubs which permit Electras to race with the Pearson Ensign One Design Fleet in local club races. After all the orginal name of the Ensign was the "Electra Ensign".
Or how about a link to the brochure with Everet Pearson the builder and Carl Alberg the deisgner sailing one. http://www.jollytime.net/sales.htm I am not positive but I think Carl owned an electra.
