I apologize for neglecting this fine community, which provided me with a tarp over my cockpit through many a sailing adventure...but, as usual with A-type people like me, I've got ten gallons of stuff in a five gallon holding tank, and I got's to prioritize. I do hope you are all doing well.
Lady Kay is wintering in Florida, in Ft. Lauderdale. As I write, we are doing the spring break thing. Kids had their first time snorkeling today on the reef in Pennekamp, four miles off Key Largo. A leisurely afternoon sail brought us back to Key Largo, 84F, 12 knots on the beam. End of April she's coming back to the Chesapeake.
After the "stones" last year, I got myself another stretch of sick leave compliments of "Heliobacter Pyloris", a particularly powerful bacteria, and responsible for 80% of all ulcers...(including my 3). Nothing a pound and a half (kidding but not too much) of assorted anti biotics wont take care of. Will have to go back to work soon.
In November I started "hanging" on the Latts and Atts forum......at the same time a few flamers and compulsive politicos were ruining the ambiance. On February 19, a bunch of other nice people and myself took off and started the "Cruising Renegades". 7000 posts and 300 members in one month.....We even have a virtual yachtclub...BMYC (Bight, Me. Yacht Club) Burgees, blazer crests and cozees are in the works. It is a very light hearted community in a world of our own making, centered around sailboats. Cruisers, liveaboards, people with jobs and dreamers all interact in a pleasant manner. The chatroom some nights will burst at the seams with 20 or so people. You are invited to stop by. Tell the Tavernmaid (sailingforjoy) to put your beverage of choice on my tab.....
Good to hear from you Oscar. (Wasted away again in Margaretaville?) While in Key Largo you may want to try Mrs. Macs's kitchen for breakfast. Their breakfast special is Mahi, eggs, home fries and rye toast for only 6 bucks. Yum. Snappers also has excellent food. That's assuming you have access to a vehicle. If you sail further south and go to the bayside (via the snake creek bridge) anchor off Lignumvitae or Shell Key. They have free mooring balls, or drop the hook. Quiet, unspoiled, and a great sunset view.
Good to hear from ya Oscar! Way cool forum! Yall have done a great job. A new one added to my favorites. Now I understand why you haven't been around. Glad you took care of Ratso! Bless his little soul! Down my way its Racoons, big as dogs. Now that would carry off your trap!
O'kay, now that we found Oscar and know he is still kicking, glad to see you really haven't forgotten your old budds. Where is "SAILGAL" of "Tropical Sleigh" fame??
And the real answer to where's Oscar is here..Actually that's the Admiral and Beloved Second Born....just East of Key Largo...(The picture is poor because I had to use my cellphone camera, as I had forgotten the cable for the real camera....
Oscar....C42 #76 Lady Kay (Ex. c250 WB # 618) Chesapeake/Ft. Lauderdale
