I just picked up my new 2003 Catalina 250 and it sits in my driveway. I wanted to introduce myself. My wife and I live in northeast Ohio. We have owned a cat 22 (our first) for 2 years and decieded to move up for the interior room. I brought "Forgiveness" back from Witchita Kansas yesterday (1022 miles one way). We are looking forward to participating on this board and quite frankly, have a lot of questions. We will save those for another time!
I've been lurking here for several months and well, now I've got a good reason to participate!
Congratulations on your 250. This forum is a great place to get the answers to many of the questions we all have, and a great place to meet other owners.
So Turk, what did you think of the Ninnescah club? We are hosting the Nationals this year. We have yet to have a 250 register and you just took our only local boat! Sounds like you need to come back for the Nationals! Welcome to the site and I hope to the association, it is money well spent.
I was very impressed with your club. Incredible bay marina and a very nice club house. I understand your lake has some unique characteristics. Lots of flat land and wind in Kansas. I sail on the second largest inland lake in Ohio, Mosquito lake. It is 1.5 x 10 miles and like yours, in very flat suroundings. We average 10 - 15 knots. I believe you guys pay about $1000 / yr dues for your facility. We are a 15 acre facility called Cortland Concervation club. Beautiful mowed grass and large trees. Boat ramp , dock, clubhouse, pavilion, beach, 2 tennis courts, Lockers, showers, camping, jet ski moorings, sailboat mooring field. We are limited to 200 members and , well, it costs and incredible $125 / yr.
Sorry I took your only 250. I would come back (sounds like fun) but pulling "forgiveness" home 1022 miles was more than I want to do again. It trailered well though with no problems at all. I own a Ford 150 4 x 4 with a Triton engine. 20 Hours of driving can be fun!
My wife and I have worked the past 3 days cleaning and getting her ready. She is a beautiful boat!
