Wichita is a very windy place, Nationals will be a hoot this year. Several months ago we had a horrible ice storm. All of the money has now been added up and it was the most expensive natural disaster in the recorded history of the state; and we are in the middle of tornado alley. The cost was split between repairing the power grid and tree damage. The tops are gone off a huge number of our tree, only the branches that had grown down survived. Today in this wind none of the trees outside my windows are moving, only the very large branches are left. All the small leafy limbs are blowing like crazy but no swaying. It looks very weird, like giant hedges instead of trees.

We had to babysit our boats all weekend long up here in NE Indiana. 3 to 4 foot waves with sustained winds of 43 and gusts up to 55. Some piers did not survive. But thank God, our BOATS DID!
Frank, do you have a pair of these on your boat. I kind of thought every Kansas sailor would be equiped with a pair of get me home ruby red shoes for when those really big winds happen along.
