Great forum folks..thanks for doing this -helps newbies like me a lot.
I am strongly considering buying a 250. Not totally sure about the WB vs WK yet but leaning towards WK as I will probably leave it in the water most of the year and only trailer it out a couple of times a year.I live in the SF Bay Area of Northern California and would sail on the bay mostly
Main reason for the post I was wondering if there was a sort of checklist or things to look out for when buying a used 250 ?
Valuations also seems to be an issue with wildly different prices on apparently similar boats and very little "inventory" so it hard to know whether things are a good deal or not. I did look on the valuation sites (BUC and NEMA seemed to way under price them and signaled they didnt have enough traffic to fairly price them. Any thoughts on a fair price for a good condition 1999-2000 250 WK with wheel, marine head, decent engine, with and without trailer would be welcome.
Also - given the discussion on trailering weight - do people know if it is possible to rent trailers and something to tow them with easily ? If I am only trailering a couple of times a year...buying a trailer and a big truck that adds significantly to my commuting costs would not seem to be a smart idea...any thoughts ?
