Getting ready to put the boat in this year and I noticed a slight bend (1/8" deflection over legnth of swag) in the chrome swagged fitting at the top of my fore stay. It looks like it is caused from the furler putting strain on it.
Anyone else notice this with your boat? Should I be concerned? I think that a new forestay would probably end up the same way fairly soon.
They sometimes take that sort of bend during the swaging process. Do you have a toggle at the top? If you do it is probably not a concern. Is there any kink in the wire itself? Dave
There was (IS?) a tech tip related to the unfair strain that a CDI furler put on the headstay at the upper end, together with a suggestion as to how to alleviate the problem, you might want to look if your furler is a CDI, Fair winds, ron SR SK Orion SW FL
