I've looked at the drawings in the manual. I'm looking for details of the line layout inside the boom. I don't want to hit anything while drilling into the boom.
I assume your boom is the same as mine. I ran some lines and drilled into my boom a couple of years ago. To be safe I took off the ends of the boom. Three screws and some sealing compound held in the two ends. The sealing compound was pliable. Was able to see all the way through the boom with a good flashlight. Wayne Brown C250WB S/N 089
When I added the single line second reefing on my boat I drilled holes for two cheek blocks and two padeyes on my boom and didn't hit anything. I stayed away from the ends and anyplace there was a thru fitting. I probed the holes with a piece of wire to see if anything was in the way. I threaded the holes and used short #10 ( I think) threaded stainless steel screws (not self tapping) and used an anti-seize/corrosion paste on the threads. The back of the cheek blocks I covered with electrical tape to isolate the stainless steel from the aluminum. So far every thing still works OK.
Somewhere I read that threading the holes with a tap were stronger than self tapping. I also noticed that most of the stuff attached to the mast and boom were either riveted or threaded holes. Also usually self tapping in that size would be rather pointy and have to be trimmed and filed.
