I am considering going to Florida Keys for a week and launching and
cruising in the Bahia Honda State Park area. Anyone have any experience on the ramp and anchorages.
Thanks

I haven't sailed in the keys.
I trust you have a depth sounder.
Get a chart and review the area. I hear it can be tricky in the "skinny" water.
Sounds like a wonderful trip!!

Jesse, sounds like a great trip, it is beautiful down there.

Just in case you didn't find this already http://www.bahiahondapark.com/

Would you take some pics of the ramps that you find and post them.

When are you going to be down there?

Enjoy.

I plan to go Sept 11-16. Yes, I have charts, Depth Sounder and GPS.
I have a swinger as well.

My wife and I visited there while snorkeling off Tavernier in March. It's beautiful and a nice launch area. Not enough detail in any of our pics to post for you. Felt sorry for a C25 sitting off Tavernier Creek waiting for the tide as our dive boat took us out.

GPS is almost a must if you sail in the sound. These mangrove islands everywhere look all the same. And don't forget the bug spray. Aside from that it is wonderful scenery and a great way to get away from it all. You'll find plenty of spots where you'll be the only person(s) on earth. Last year we spent a week daysailing a C22 off Key Largo - chartered the boat at a local club. We loved it.

I can offer a solid recomendation for the Nauticpath software from Lowrance. It is around 80$ and offers detailed mapping with bottom contours for the entire us. I works with certain Lowrance GPS units. I have had it for a few months and have about 200 miles under the keel in Pensacola and in Jacksonville and can tell you it is acurate. I bought an Ifinder gps and it is an awesome combination. If you travel to different venues, it will keep you from giving Garmin ALL your money for charts!
As for launcing, I don't know but would be interested in joining for this trip.

Tom.

Ps. I don't work for Lowrance.
