I just purchased my second boat, a 1989 Catalina 25 and is it beautiful. Camper back, full dodger, roller furling and the list goes on. I was wondering about the wing keel and its performance. Having just sold a MacGregor 26 I am not too familiar with the wing design. Any advise or things noteworthy, please pass them on. I was also wondering about name change. There is no name on the boat, being a little superstitous, I was wondering if it was safe to do so.
With regard to the name. There is an artical on line at www.48north.com that tells how to de name. Its in the on line articals. This topic has also been covered here and if you can get the archives to work you can find it. I had Wind Lass's name made up by a local sign maker from vynil. It has lasted several years so far and looks great.
The keel configuration you have may be a bit more tender than the S/K or the fin. If you have a tall rig reef early. I hope you will post some pictures soon so we can all enjoy your enthusiasm.
Congratulations on your C25 aquisition and welcome aboard. I, like you, purchased(last fall) a Catalina 25 as my second boat and about a month or so ago, sold my Venture(Macgregor)25. I've been fervently getting the Catalina ready for a May 1st launch and the suspense is killing me!
