I replaced the upper shrouds. They were the original ones and I had to cut off the seizing wire that held them to the spreader tube. Now I'm faced with having to secure the plastic spreader end caps back to the spreader tube but can't find the "stainless steel seizing wire" that is needed to do this. How do you all secure your plastic spreader end caps?

Automotive stores (AutoZone, O'Reilly's, etc.) have stainless steel safety wire in several guages. They also have an assortment of safety wire pliers that are handy for the task. Don't use bailing wire. It is too large guaged and it will rust.
This spring we upgraded the spreader brackets to stainless steel. The end caps where held in place with a small screw. To hold the uppers to the spreader we used stainless steel wire that a local sail shop gave me from there bulk supply.
You want to get .032 safety wire. It has many other uses on anchor shackles, etc.
You will likely be offered .020, .032, or .050. .020 is too small. .050 is a little tough to work with. .032 is just right. Just be carefull of the wire as it will cut like a knife if you are not careful.
