help! - what are we missing here? - we have a lovely 1977 Cat 25 with a bilge hose with nowhere to go! - we see in a pic from later model doc a thru hole thru the transom, but there's no such hole in the rear of our girl - BTW we have no manual bilge, but rather, a 360 gph electric installed in the keel well - she's ready to pump, but the hose leads.. to the bilge - nowhere else -
Where should i connect this hose to?? (other than over the side?)
Hey old boat guys... does it intersect the scupper drain hose? Mike, your cockpit drains exit under your stern, they quit doing that in the late 70's I think.
The PO may have just pumped the bilge into the cockpit or over the side. I'd be inclined to install a thru-hull discharge fitting... fairly high on the transom probably on the starboard side. (Well, that's what I did). I installed a 'no moving parts' automatic bilge pump switch too.
On my '79 the hose is the suction - picks up water in the bilge and sends it thru the pump and that is connected to a thru hull on the port hull above the water line. Jack
MIKE ON MY 77FK I FISHED THE DISCHARGE HOSE UNDER THE SINK TO THE BILGE. ATTACHED IT TO THE PUMP AND SET THE PUMP. THEN RAN THE HOSE UNDER THE SINK THROUGH THE PORTSIDE STORAGE AND INSTALLED A THRU HULL JUST ABOVE THE GAS TANK STAND AND THE WATER EXITS OUT HIGH ON THE TRANSOM. HAS WORKED GREAT FOR THREE YEARS. INSTALLED THE ON/OFF/AUTO SWITCH BY THE INSTRUMENT PANEL. YOU MAY NEED TO OPEN THE SIZE OF THE HOLE IN THE FLOOR DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF PUMP YOU INSTALL. JOHN
