The only thing certain is that they have changed the forecast about every twelve hours. Now, after skirting FL, SC, NC, have the track heading east into the Atlantic and possibly turning back to the south.

you guys sure? noaa puts a 5% chance of tropical storm force winds in southern va by 2am monday. its just north of cuba today moving really slowly.
Apparently you missed what we were looking at yesterday. Yes, Matt is now expected to get trapped down there, having missed a system that was supposed to yank him up the coast. Annapolis should be good.
We could have used the rain up here from a near miss, but weren't wishing for a hit!

While the Hurricane Center is confident of the storm's path in the next 2 days, the projections show that the storm will likely move east out to sea away from shore after that. But nobody's betting on it just yet.
One weather model shows it moving away and fading away. Another shows it doing a 180° and heading back toward shore for another round. This would be painful.
While NYC, CT, LI, MA and NJ may have dodged this one, nobody can say that for sure...
Yup--Nicole is expected to eventually head NW inside of Bermuda, but the models then show her turning east, out to sea. Of course, they had a little trouble with the forecast for Matthew...

Yup...I believed that it was heading away from us here on FL's Space Coast. Pulled the Watkins out for a "quick" bottom job. Well, multiple blisters (some rather large) killed any idea of a "quick" job. Pretty much worked non-stop the last two days just so I can out it back on a trailer and off of the jack stands (can secure it better on the trailer vice the jack stands). Hope to have it on the trailer and strip the canvas and sails tomorrow and get my hurricane/boating stove(s) and coffee pot. Stripped the sails off of the Capri and double tied the lines. Will check again in the morning, expecting high water with Matthew. Hope everyone stays safe and comes through with little or no damage. have everything i need at the house except beer...will fight the masses tomorrow for a couple of cases.
Fought the masses and grabbed a bunch of beer, decided to bail on the house on the barrier island and went to the mainland. House ended up fine, only a little fence damage. Haven't been able to get back on the base to look at the marina, however I can see the Watkins on the trailer from the road, looks good. I can't see the Capri 25, but I've heard about some boat's being damaged and she wasn't one of them. Can see a few of the boats with their furlers unrolled and their sails shredded from the road. We got very lucky in this part of FL.
Was able to get on base, in the Marina to check on my boats. Both of mine survived, as did Chuck Shaw's C25 hull #1. Not much damaged to other boats, two sailboats in dry storage turned over (both strapped to their trailer), one a small 16' Precision, the other a 26' McGregor WB. Also had two sailboats completely break free from their moorings (both are pretty much abandoned boats). One lost its mast which damaged another boats SS bimini frame, the other got twisted in the slip and busted a water outlet. We got lucky! Hope everyone else's association's boats fared well as well.
Good to hear! Matt fizzed out, and Nicole is wandering out to sea. But "it ain't over till it's over," and the first named storm of 2016 was in January! Maybe we're entering perpetual hurricane season.

Looks like Nicole will make landfall around Tasiilaq, Greenland.
