On the Eastern Shore of the Chesapeake we are paying $850 for April to November which includes water, electric and showers. Marina also has a small chandelry and maintenance shop. Winter storage which includes haulout and splash was $550.
Long Beach, Mississippi on the beautiful Gulf Coast. $100/month for a C25. We sail year 'round. water, pwr, restrooms/no shower, 24/7 security, 8 miles from Cat Island, ~10 miles to Ship Island. There will be slips available when they finish rebuilding pier 3. Yall come! dolphins come with every sail at no extra charge. Jesse MS Jenny
Man, do I feel lucky. I have a yearly lease at Kalama on the Columbia River: concrete docks, power, fuel, security, restrooms, water, showers about 1/4 mile away. Cost: $67 per month. I'm gonna show your numbers to the admiral and go buy a new sail with all the money I'm saving!! Gary Encore! #685 SK/SR, "old traditional"
Mobile Bay, Alabama. $200/year for club membership and $25 month for slip fees, including power & water. Clubhouse, showers, and the kitchen serves the best cheeseburger you've ever had for $2.25.
At my marina on Lake Harris in Central Fl. I pay $80/per month. This includes protected slip, well maintained dock, power, water, shower, toilet, 24 hour security and restaurants, shopping, movies within easy walk. Unfortunatly no haulout or repair facilities, but, a very pleasant place to watch the sunsets when I am not sailing.

Does anybody else know how bad it is around Annapolis?

Out Tacoma, WA marina has OK bathrooms & showers and a small store for about $175 with power/ water. Rates just went up but they are replacing docks and upgrading. Got a call today and they told me I can't leave the dingy on the dock anymore and want to charge me $5-10.00/ month more to store it in a locked storage unit ashore.
$1500 for April to November at a lovely, rustic marina northern Chesapeake. Includes water, electric, showers. I thought I looked around and saw comparable prices, but Rick, you're paying $850 at Worton?!? Dang! I guess it's only money...
Sorry guys, April to November is $1400 at Worton Creek not $850, which is across from Baltimore and a bit North. By car I'm about 30-40 minutes from Annaplolis.
In the southern coast of NC we pay 1800 for year round. No elec. but water if we run 200 feet of hose. Showers are about a 5 min walk. Prices keep going up! Docks are in bad shape! Oh well....
I realize this is quite a long list of replies, but justhad to get my $2.00 in (the old saying used to be "two cents worth" , but as we all know, the fees have gone upppppp... The mooring fee for May thru October in Castine Harbor, (Castine, Me.) is $250. for non-residents, and $50.00 for residents. A dinghy is of course necessary to get from dock to mooring, and there is a $25 fee for dinghy docking priveleges.... We no doubt have to contend with a bit more fog and more tidal action then most of the membership, but these challenges make the fair weather days all the more worthwhile. The sailing ground from Camden, thru Penobscot Bay to Bar Harbor is very senic with the usual prevailing winds from southwest. If anyone is ever in the area, let me know and I'll try to help you with getting familiar with the lay of the land - I mean ocean!!
Thanks for the input. I just mailed my check to the marina, "Free Spirit" will be put in this week and we'll outfit her on the weekend. I was going to complain about the condition of my dock finger but after seeing some of the fees out there I just keep quiet. Thanks for the input. RL

I spend more money for ice than these people spend to moor their boats every month!
Don Lucier, Northstar C25 SR/FK

I feel your pain Don, our slip with electric, water, complimentary pump outs showers and an the privledge of spending $$ at an overpriced bar is $2200 a season. If we are lucky enough to go April to October it comes to about 314.00. And ice runs about a buck fifty a bag. I know I don't have the cheapest place in town but I would kill for something in the mid hundreds...
Our slip is on Michigan in Racine, WI. It's at $1728 April 1 to October 31. We have heads and wonderfully hot showers. Great after a long sail on a hot day. Electric and water, and laundary. Walk to town, boatyard, secure and good neighbors. My wife's family lives in town as well. We are in the wetern subs of Chicago and the price is about the same with so much more. At best all you get is a slip. It only takes about fifteen minutes longer to get to Racine.
The coment about each of us having it great is true. This is our sanity clause.
Marina Del Rey is just north of LAX. I don't know much about it other than it's pretty big for a pleasure-boat only harbor. Also, I keep reading that small boat sailors are currently trying to stop the latest tide of developement of tall condo buildings along its edge which is likely to further depress the wind conditions in the harbor. My guess is that the developers will prevail. MDR is about a 6 hours cruise to Catalina.
A few miles south of LAX is King Harbor (Redondo Beach). I used to live near there and it is very nice there. It's smaller and nicer than MDR and it's about a 5 hour cruise to Catalina. I would have preferred to keep my boat there but it costs about twice what I currently pay in LA Harbor.
Several miles south of there (on the other side of Palos Verdes Peninsula) is giant LA Harbor. Technically it's two separate harbors -- LA and Long Beach Harbor. Huge commercial traffic. The numerous marinas are from 10 to 45 minutes from the ocean, and from there it's about a 3 1/2 hour cruise to Catalina. Inside the harbor it's certainly not pretty, but that matters little once you pass LA Lighthouse.

quote:
$162/month in LA Harbor -- comes with heavy traffic, pollution, crime, sleazy strip bars, celebrity sightings, electricity, clean showers, some pretty good slip neighbors and the shortest sail to Catalina Island.
I think I have you guys beat, here on the South Shore of LI, NY I pay $1850 / year. That is from April 1 to November 1. This does include storage and taking the boat out and in.
We have a small Tiki bar/ restaurant also at the facility.
It is worth every penny I pay for the enjoyment and friendships I have encountered.
