I got this idea from another forum, but i think a seperate forum on just materials and suppliers would be handy. Stuff that works and dosent and suppliers who work and dont.

Hi Duane, it looks great. That was fast and, as far as I can tell, uneventful. One question though, the site is about 1/2 inch bigger than my screen so I have to scroll left and right when reading posts. Is there a setting on my computer that will fix that? Cheers.

Try dropping your text size for starters, View drop down menu, text size - medium or small should do it. If that doesn't work, your screen resolution might need adjusting.

It’s clear that a lot of work went into the web site. Good job.
A couple of questions. The Fleet Captains list is gone from the officers and staff page, is that permanent? We’ve worked pretty hard to develop the fleets and it would be nice to list the Captains some where.
Under “local fleets” both fleet #92 and C250 Fleet #1 are defunct.
I know fleet #94 has a web page https://home.comcast.net/~fleet94/
and Fleet #8 http://mysite.verizon.net/vze2khd3/catalina25fleet822/index.html
has one.

Go ahead and click on the bird.

What's the best screen size (pixels)to view the site, I have that 1/2 inch sideways scrolling thing going on as well.

Like lightning! I'll hardly have time to collect my thoughts! Of course, I didn't on the old site, either...

Thanks for a great job!

Now, I don't want to complain--I have a wider screen than some people, so I have no problem... but it might help to organize a single menu (instead of two that are partly redundant) above the forum so the forum can take the full width of the page. (On the other hand, I tried sizing down the window, and everything seemed to fold properly with no scroll bar. But the minute somebody posts a picture or URL, all bets are off.)

From Top to Bottom -

Fleet Captains are considered Flag officers - they have a flag

Click on the Flag Line link and Fleet Captains is about as big as it gets on the menu bar in the middle of your screen.

Second - That page is one of the few that is identical to the old site - . I will fix them myself tonight. Thanks for the update

Dave First then Tom -

Dave - WE can't control pic sizes- and that is a function of snitz not the site. With maybe one page exclusion, the menus are not redundant One is completely forum controlled, the other is our menu - which happens to have a forum link on it. the forum actually pushes the site out, as you or others with a larger monitor might have noticed. Jason is going go play with it a bit to see if he cant force the forum into the page as opposed to the inverse. I have a larger screen and no scroll bar without resizing the window. Try dropping your text size too....

TOM -
We are working on the screen sizing, if you can hold on for just a bit longer.

Duane, every time I try to submit the questionaire for listing on the owners site, I get this:

<b>FrontPage Error.
User: please report details to this site's webmaster.
Webmaster: please see the server's application event log for more details</b>

So, once again, how do I get added to the owners list, and how do I submit photos of my boat?

Thanks

you can email photos of your boat to me. I'll get them in. Dennis' comment above was partially correct - it seemed seemless, however we had to have the hosting site reset some parameters. unfortunately they took it upon themselves to reset a couple of extra parameters that we didn't want. They were trying to be extra helpful. we are working on the forms now

It appears that everything still operated, just with an error. If everyone can lay of adding your name to the directory until I post here again, probably sometime tomorrow. Thanks.

Also - Names do not get immediately posted. it is a manual process.

We appreciate your patience.

Good work! I also have the side scrolling issue. Maybe if that upper left menu could be located entirely above the forum table, allowing the forum entries to use the full width of the browser window...

Everyone who has the scrolling issue, check to see that your screen resolution is set at, then if you could post your operating system, browser and screen resolution.

Thanks,

Also, let me know if this actual post (not thread, just this single paragraph or two ) looks different?

Duane,

I'm using the Mozilla browser and 800 pixel screen width and have the width scrolling problem as well.

I downloaded the home page and played with the CSS imagery as the overhead seems to be a problem on all pages. Reducing the upper image from 800 pixels to 775 eliminated the scrolling issue at least on the home page and likely will do so on all pages if that image is the offender.

I can't answer why 800 image size seems to be a problem, perhaps borders are also called for someplace which increases the overhead beyond 800 total.

Have your tech reduce that graphic to 775 and lets see what happens.

Font size does not solve the problems and won't of course if a graphic is the offender.
<hr noshade size="1">

Just checked and the forum page needs a little more room than the home page... I had to reduce the upper image (header800.gif) to 750 pixels to eliminate the slide bar...perhaps there are another 25 pixels of width required by the forum page borders.
<hr noshade size="1">

btw, I hesitate to call attention to this item with all the web site construction going on... but perhaps it will get placed on the to do list while upgrading momentum remains in motion. When the dust settles from current construction efforts, can we upgrade the forum?

The Snitz forum version we're using is old...and has bugs. We are using v 3.4.03 and a 3.4.05 version has been out for a year or more. My dog in the hunt is that the newer version solves a bug that drives me crazy...that is that all insertions default to the end of the text rather than the curser location, a real pain requiring a lot of cut and paste.

I realize that most don't have this problem and perhaps its an issue of the Mozilla browser I use. The problem does not exist on the Snitz forum test page so my assumption is that it is version related and a bug of the older versions.

Nice work, and it must have been lots of work.
I have the same scrolling issues. Haven't moved to one of the posts with pictures, yet. Using Explorer on a Win 98 with 800 res. 32-bit, second smallest text. If I try higher res. I need the 250 drugstore glasses! Same with my son's WinXP, (wish there was something in between 800 and 1024 res.), so I think Arlyn's suggestions should be given a try. Anyway, thanks all.
EDIT: Okay, one day later; I tried the 1024 res and second largest text size. That seems to work OK. You can give it a try, but be sure to reset to your usual settings before leaving the site or you may get a shreek from the admiral when she logs onto her favorites.

Very nice job. Thanks for all the hard work. No problems here with the resolution or screen sizes.

How come the icon next to the Association Treasurer on the "Flag Line & Staff" page looks like a bluberry muffin?
