I have had two friends send sails to sailcare and they both shredded almost immediately, I think they must do good work on good sails but it would seem they do not advise you against their service on dead sails. As Adam Sandler would say "new sails are better".
I just picked up a C25 on lake travis as well. I picked mine up a few months back.. Its an 88, in GREAT shape for 6000. It even smelled new inside. Furling Jib, Main in great shape, lines all look brand new. 2 Year old Nissan outboard with less then 5 hours on it. One owner, all orignal documentation down to the brochure.
Its at Cypress Creek Marina right now... so far so good!
Let me know if you need a hand with anything... im always out on the lake.
I think I got really lucky! What do you think guys? Check out the pics...was 6k a good deal?
Very nice boat, Steve! I don't know anything about your local boat market, but 6K sounds like a really good deal especially considering the practically new outboard.
That is a great find! Congratulations on the new boat. Looks great. Enjoy! <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">

No, no trailer. I sailed it from his marina to mine.

To be honest, I dont know much about the local boat market either. I found the deal on craigs list and it honestly looked to good to be true.
I went to check it out... and i really just couldnt find anything wrong with it at all. It was an elderly gentlemen, he said the boat had been very good to him but it was time for him to upgrade. He said his wife wanted room to actually entertain guests...ya know... cheese and wine kinda thing i guess.
He came across as very honest and very helpful. He even took me out on my first sail to get me acclimated to everything. He drank his last beer and smoked his last cigar on the boat out on a nice evening sail then handed over the keys.
You could tell he was not happy to be getting rid of the boat... but excited about going bigger.
Anyway... thanks for all the compliments and i'll keep you updated!
You got an awesome deal! I've been looking at an '89 model in about the same condition and the owner will not budge off of $12,500.00. On top of that I would have to move it from Dallas to Travis.
I'll give you $8K for your boat right now!
I spent a week Marina hopping on Travis about two weeks ago and could not find a single C25 for sale. If you hear of another '87 to '89 C25 for sale on Travis please let me know!
Thank you Derek! I appreciate your taking the time to look!
I've been looking at a clean '83 C25 Tall Rig/Fin Keel in Dallas for month or so. At one point I had a deal with the owner for $5K but I backed out because the boat needed a bottom job, possibly a new motor, and I wanted to move it to Travis. Doing all of that I felt would put me in a 25 year old boat upside down and I felt I hadn't looked at enough boats at the time so decided to keep looking. No one had really been looking at it anyway so I've been looking around thinking I would go back and buy it if I couldn't find what I wanted.
Went to buy it yesterday and another family was looking for a C22. The dealer didn't know I was coming and told them if they all wanted to sail at the same time they needed to look at the C25.
Bottom line is about five minutes before I got to the dealer they made a deal on the boat so I'm still looking.
I've pretty much decided now to stick with a '87 - '89 model preferably a Fin Keel and traditional interior but will look at anything that comes available.
