Has anyone found a larger tank that will fit the fuel locker? I have heard about a 6 gallon tank but have never seen a product name and model number. My current 3 gallon tank is not large enough for cruising.
We cannot direct the winds but we can adjust our sails.

Looks like it or the galanized tank is just what I was looking for. Have you been happy with the plastic tank? <hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">E-10 fuel is causing problems with all kinds of metal tanks, including aluminum, stainless and galvanized. I'd stay with plastic. (Virtually all boat builders have gone that way.)
I thought about stainless but then I'd need an acrylic fuel locker so people could see the tank! I went ahead and ordered the plastic Tempo tank from Defender. Looks like Tempo is discontinuing this tank in favor of one with a fuel guage but that tank is a little bigger. Now would be the time to pick up the valu6 if you are considering it. They are also discontinuing the galvanized tank, perhaps due to the E-10 issue.
Make sure you get the proper fitting on the tank so you can quickly hook up to your gas line. I got a 6gal jerry can and it was a pain to refil the 3gal tank while sailing, especially in rough waters. I took it back but WM didnt have the Tempo value6 in stock so I am waiting. Good luck
It seems that the Tempo value6 is hard to find. Walmart is carrying Attwoods, West Marine and Boater's World are carrying Moeller. Has anybody tried any other 6 gallon tank that fits?
Besides measuring the dimensions of the tank, you also have to make sure that the tank has the quick disconnect fitting that will work with your engine. Note that they are different for different engine manufacturers. I'm assuming that you want to replace the 3 gallon with a 6, and not carry the jerry can around.

Randy Sounds like you already got yours.
You may want to put something between the tank and the back part of the fuel locker to prevent the tank from rubbing the bolts/nuts that hold the rudder gudgeon on.
I ordered one from Defender and went with the "standard" shipping option. It arrived 24 hours later, wow! It does look rather large...I'll try it later this afternoon. Where the connection exits the tank is supposed to pivot 270 degrees but it looks pretty tight. I fear if I turn it it may break.
The tank fit well! Not as tight as I feared after reading some of the posts. I'm going to order a 2nd tank as it fits well in the port side seat compartment also. This will double my range for the trip down the Delaware from North of Philadelphia and through the C & D Canal that I intend to do in the spring. I doubt that I'll keep them both in service all the time but for those longer trips it's a comfort knowing that gas wont be a problem.
Joe, If you make that trip down to the C&D canal you can get gas in Delaware City right before you enter the Canal! I have taken a boat from there down to Lewes DE before and would highly suggest leaving an hour before high tide so you can take advantage of the dramatic current you will run into as you get further down the river. I keep my boat in Dewey Beach just past the Rusty Rudder if you know where that is. It has great wind in July & August as there is not much land between the ocean & bay there. My wife and I live in Medford, NJ Willy
Thanks Willy! I'm aware of the awesome current in the canal. I used to keep a 1965 Columbia Contender full keel 24' on the Bohemia River. I had only a Johnson 5hp on her. A few times I would go to Chesapeake City get something to eat at the "Tap Room" and head back the next day. That Johnson was just enough to stay out of everyones way but I know I would not have been able to buck the current had an emergency developed. I like to think I was brave when I was young but it was something other than that. I live on the PA side of the Delaware but keep Gracie at Winters Sailing Ctr at Dredge Harbor...not all that far from you.
I was thinking today that it would be cool to have some kind of "double" tank. That is, two 3 gallon tanks that fit together somehow so that when connected, the serve as one but can be removed independently for refilling, etc.
OK, now all you engineers out there solve all the obvious and not so obvious problems and get back to me.
