It appears their server is down, we've been trying to log on to make course corrections for a while (2230 PST right now).

Fortunately, Rita (Lardbutt) is out of the Formosa Straits now, so she should be safe, but I'm just barely getting started & need to make turn before I go to bed this evening.

I’ve been a bit lax checking here during the race and have been using the IM feature to talk to a bunch of you during. This leg has been the better of the two I’ve done thus far. It turns out a friend of mine has a dog in the hunt – and he bought gadgets. I think I’m dropping the 30 coins next leg to keep up with him – I’m sure there will be some bragging rights with this. I’ll give an update here if I do.

I was neck and neck with Avocado, about 5 days ago – did he turn on his engines? Great forsight to sail in phase and to the strong side of the course – always. It does look like I’ll finish around the 10-11k mark.

Kudos to those ahead !

Vida Nova has been stuck on a rock for many hours now, so us laggards are catching up.
And he has all the toys!

Duane, good sailing! you're 300 miles ahead of us (JD, Sanger, etc.)

Paul.

Does anyone know if the DTF includes or excludes the radius of the circle? If it includes it, I stand a good chance of catching Mary Frances. If it doesn't - We'll finish in parade formation

<hr height="1" noshade id="quote"></font id="quote"></blockquote id="quote">If I could get on the server I could tell you, but right now it's a no-go. And oh-so-close to the line, too - even if by the parade route...

Edit: It's back up now. I'm going to say the DTF value does NOT include the finish line. I'm showing ~60nm to finish but the line is around 30nm ahead.

FINISH: 11D 17H 00M

Nice job Mr.Wolff, just couldnt quite catch you on the parade route!

Tenative finish position of 11,995, just inside the 12k mark (and within my "Top 10%" goal).

Edit: DAM, bumped to 12,065.

I know that I got snagged a couple of times and had to do a 180 to get out of a harbor, but next leg I may make a point of staying away from Vida Nova and Kendall VN seems to find all the little rocks and Kendall is playing snooker (bouncing off the side walls)

We haven't been able to log onto the race all day, Lardbutt's headed out towards Guam, and Lepak's probably nosed into the Chinese Mainland somewhere in the Formosa Strait.

Don't think it's the server(s). Had no problems logging in here other than the standard first attempt fails but second connects.

Not yet but give it about 10 minutes and you'll make a nice dent in the coastline! You're traveling

Wait, my screen just refreshed and you're now stopped! Literally, just stopped!

Hah, thanks Gary. I was finally able to log on with Rita's laptop. I did a reset on mine and can now log on. I actually set my spinnaker for the first time on this leg to get free of the coast.

Yeah, I managed to miss the 30 mile radius by a couple of miles, should have aimed better. At least I was finally able to get in w/o running aground...again.

Next leg starts Feb. 14.

That should make for a romantic Valentine's Day evening. "Excuse me honey, I have to check my heading." or "Why are you bringing the laptop to bed?"

Better call for flowers now!

Still dawdling, is she? I haven't looked in a long time. It's too bad they don't provide tracks, it'd be interesting to see where she wanders.
