I have a dial up at home (56k slow) & some kind of blazing fast hookup at work. I'm too cheap to get broadband or DSL at home since I have fast access at work & am lucky enough to be able to do some personal surfing after hours (if I have time).

We have 45K Dial Up. We had ComCast Cable internet for one year, and the speed was incredible, but it was too expensive, $50/mo compared to $8.50/mo for dial up, so we cancelled it.
Our local phone company, Elk Grove Citizens, offers DSL, but we were told that our neighborhood is too far from the server, more than 8000 wire-feet, which they said was the maximum distance, so we can't get DSL here.

Broadband (cable)

Don't tell my cable company but they could double the price and I'd happily pay it. I could NEVER go back to using a modem.

56K on good days; too frugal to even pay for premium cable chanels on TV. Best described as conservative re money and politics. Love new tech as soon as price declines a bit.

56 K dialup. My son and daughter have been working on my wife and I to go with DSL (it is available) but find the added expense ($40/month vs $15) would be better used elsewhere in the budget (i.e., son in college, daughter starts next September).

At work T1, at home dial up, It a matter of where I spend my time on line. Yes broad band is available, DSL and Cable
