Well.. I was wrong about possibly adding the ubolt to the port side. No Room there.

I tried to cut the ends of the bolts, but my cutting bit had a hard time. I'll try again with another bit. The ubolt works great.

I have used an old double snapshackle attaching the end of the rode to either the stay or bow rail. My view is that the work will be done by the cleat and I am just making sure I do not lose things overboard. A more permanent situation would be mounting an eye or other piece of hardware and I am not sure I would trust the anchor locker. I would consider a deck mounted cleat inside the anchor locker but my concern would be that the convenient fix could too easily be used for regular anchor work, which it is not intended or strong enough for.

Well.. I had a good time getting into the anchor locker and putting in the ubolt. I rebedded the cleat on the strbrd side, searing off one bolt as I removed it. Made up some epoxy to refill the hole that had been wallered out and now I have one of the old bolts to try to find a new one. The old bolt that came out whole is bent and is of unusual size. The new bolt I put in has a full threaded shaft. I'll try to get the old one posted for consideration. I also found my pulpit nuts were loose and I tightened them up pretty easily. All the nuts were 11mm.

I'm usually anchoring up in 15 feet of water so I'm using 2 anchors up front, a mushroom and a danforth with a sliding shank. In the dumpster I keep a big danforth with 150-to-200 ft of rode.
